Producer

Outi Rousu has worked as a professional in the film industry since 1985. She worked in several established production companies in the capital area Helsinki, such as Blind Spot Pictures, Matila&Röhr Productions, Illume, Kroma Productions and Liisa Helminen Film productions, until 2002 when she founded Periferia Productions.
Outi has produced feature films, shorts, documentaries, television programmes and international co-productions for all audiences - for both children and adults. She is an active producer within European film communities. Her films have been screened and awarded in international and domestic forums since 1993.
Outi has a producer’s degree at the local art university Taik (1996) and the international producer’s degree EAVE (European Audio-Visual Entrepreneurs 1997). During the decades, she has participated in several workshops of the Media programme since 1994 such as script writing workshops Sources2 in 2002 and 2008, production courses, distribution and marketing workshops. She is a BA (film & art history, Tampere University, 1984).
Outi was a member of the National Cinema Council and Media Art Council from 1997-2002. Both of these Councils are expert bodies for the Ministry of Education and Culture. Outi is also an active initiator and key person of the children’s film culture in Finland. She lectures and writes columns.
Five of Outi’s films have received the State film prize. Outi has been granted by various scholarships and nominations. WANTED, by Milla Moilanen and produced by Outi, received the European Film Academy nomination for the Best European short film in 1999.
